EVENTS: Roundtable energy sector

Roundtable on experience exchange in the energy sector between stakeholders from North Macedonia and Romania

On March 5th, INNOFEIT hosted the first thematic roundtable on experience exchange in the energy sector, bringing together key stakeholders from North Macedonia and Romania. The event gathered academic representatives from FEEIT and the University of Constanta, business leaders, transmission system operators, and regulatory authorities, fostering a dynamic dialogue on pressing energy challenges and opportunities for collaboration. On the side-lines of the roundtable, meetings were held between representatives of UKIM (the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Prof. Aleksandar Skeparovski), the University of Constanța, the Romanian CITYINNOHUB, and INNOFEIT EDIH. These meetings resulted in the signing of agreements and memorandums of cooperation and understanding between the involved stakeholders.

As an EU member state, Romania provided valuable insights into its power system development and the successful integration of renewable energy sources. The discussions delved into best practices, policy frameworks, and technological advancements, highlighting pathways for accelerating energy transition in the region.

The roundtable received strong institutional support from the Embassy of Romania in North Macedonia, with the ambassador and her deputy actively participating in the discussions. Their presence underscored the commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.

Prof. Dr. Zivko Kokolanski contributed to the event by outlining concrete opportunities for collaboration between Romanian and North Macedonian stakeholders. He emphasized the strategic role of the GOTOTWIN project in advancing the digitalization of renewable energy sources through digital twin technology. His presentation provided a comprehensive update on the project’s progress, upcoming activities, and key milestones.

Following the roundtable, several stakeholders from both countries expressed keen interest in the GOTOTWIN project. Discussions on potential partnerships gained momentum, leading to concrete follow-up actions, including plans to formalize cooperation through Memorandum of Understanding.
