Project Summary

The GoToTwin project is a collaborative effort aimed at accelerating the adoption of renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and hydro power within the Adriatic-Ionian region. At its core, the project leverages the power of "digital twins" – sophisticated computer models that mirror real-world energy systems. By creating these virtual replicas, stakeholders can experiment and optimize renewable energy production, distribution, and consumption without the risks and costs associated with real-world trials.

The project's key objectives include:

  • Developing a robust digital twin framework: This involves creating a flexible and adaptable platform specifically designed for renewable energy applications within the region. This framework will enable stakeholders to model and analyze complex energy scenarios, identify potential bottlenecks, and explore innovative solutions for optimizing energy production and distribution.
  • Establishing regional "living labs": These real-world testbeds will serve as proving grounds for the digital twin technology. By integrating the digital twin platform with actual renewable energy projects, stakeholders can gain valuable insights into the technology's effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing: The project will actively engage a diverse range of stakeholders, including government agencies, energy companies, research institutions, and local communities. Through workshops, training programs, and collaborative research initiatives, the project will facilitate knowledge exchange and build capacity within the region.
  • Developing a roadmap for widespread adoption: The project will work towards creating a supportive environment for the widespread adoption of digital twin technology in the renewable energy sector. This includes identifying and addressing regulatory barriers, advocating for supportive policies, and raising awareness among key stakeholders about the benefits of this innovative approach.

By combining cutting-edge technology with collaborative action, the GoToTwin project aims to unlock the full potential of renewable energy in the Adriatic-Ionian region, paving the way for a cleaner, more sustainable, and more resilient energy future.
